Changanacherry, populrly known as “Anchuvilakinte naadu” is the place where the souls of “Ettuveettil Pillai” were consecrated and also where a market got inaugurated by His Highness Veluthampi Dalava. Recently in October 2015, Changanacherry was declared the First Legal Literate Municipality in the whole of India and now it is the “Pradhama Niyama Sakshara Nagari”. Changanacherry keeps the secular credentials close to its heart while many other places in Kerala could not claim such a tradition. There is much tradition and mystique Changanacherry can boast of, but when one comes to dwell on Courts in Changanacherry it is a compelling mix of ill-fortune and ignominy. When nearby towns like Pala, Thiruvalla and Kanjirappally made a quantum leap in having judicial institutions, Changanacherry tethered behind for one or the other reasons. One has to be recklessly honest to see that absence of parameters paves the way to arbitrariness. When arbitrariness and bias are anathema to judiciary and judicial actions and processes Changanacherry needs to be considered more favourably in the allotment of Courts.
Munsiff’s Court, Changanacherry, which has a tradition of more than 100 years to its credit is at present housed in an old but majestic and heritage building which is at the centre of a triangle of which the three poles represent the shrines of Hindus, Christians and Muslims.Changanacherry was fortunate to have a Court complex, which started functioning on 15th of May .The then Hon’ble Chief Justice of Kerala High Court, Justice Sri Antony Dominic inaugurated the majestic building which can house more than three Courts and this constructional extravaganza is, indeed, adding feathers to the “Pradhama Niyama Sakshara Nagari”. A Fast Track Special (POCSO) is also functioning in the Court Complex in addition to the judicial First Class Magistrate Court.
The vision of Changanacherry Bar Association
